Who We Are

We are an inclusive congregation, welcoming all people and their gifts regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, education, political views and economic status. We practice mutual ministry - the gifts of the laity being as important and valued as that of the clergy, working together serving God's people and creation. We are a community of faith in the Episcopal tradition in the Diocese of Western North Carolina, a member of the world-wide Anglican Communion

Our Values

PRAYER

Prayer is our conversation with God. When we pray we talk and listen, we get to know God better. Prayer is not a vending machine for easy answers and quick fixes. Prayer is a journey for each of us.

When we pray together we form a community who are traveling together.

ACTION

When we pray we listen as well as talk. When we listen we find we are being asked to do things. We have a large feeding ministry and we partner with various organizations in Shelby and beyond.

We are never done. We have a whole lifetime of listening for guidance for our next step.

ACCEPTANCE

God made you and loves you and we don't question that. We are constantly learning how to break down barriers. Acceptance means learning to love ourselves, to see ourselves as God sees us. When we understand that is really true, we can begin to accept others with no exceptions and no strings attached.

Our Mission

To spread God's love through prayer, action, and acceptance.

WORSHIP TOGETHER

At Redeemer Shelby, everyone is truly welcome. In our community of faith, no one who is too old or too young, no one who has too many doubts or too few beliefs.

We are a congregation experiencing our own renewal and invite you to come and be a part of the new thing God is doing in and through us.

SHARE IN THE JOY

We gather to worship and be fed at an altar prepared by a loving God for all creation by the power of Jesus Christ. You, who are part of that creation, are welcome.

We invite you to share with us in the joy, work and building of God’s kingdom here where we have been planted.

FIND COMMUNITY

There’s a place for you to offer your gifts and grow spiritually.

Through The Shepherd's Table and Food Pantry, our community garden, Bible discussion groups, choir, and more you will share in our community.
